Becoming Valuable - Today, I am going to talk a little bit about me and what I do! The first thing that you may not know is that my actual name is Sabrina Soto. However, there is this ridiculously talented fashion designer for Target that goes by the same name. It was hard for me to attract attention to myself considering that her information and content would continuously pop up first. Thus, I started referring to myself as Sabrina Victoria, which is my middle name.
I do sales, marketing, recruiting, and a little bit of everything. I actually started in this genre right out of high school; I never even went to college. My first breakthrough was a job for a marketing company at the mall. I primarily worked on product launches and obtaining input from the public.
I went through the whole fiasco of getting pregnant and going through that experience, and I simultaneously wound up working a job selling newspapers in the morning and evening. It was something I was actually remarkable at. I was even consistently ranking first, second, and third for my team. Surprisingly, a supervisor quit and they asked me to step in. It made sense to say “yes.” The job hours were more normal, and I would be better able to take care of expenses
A man working for one of the outside sales team eyed me at one point, and he began to pick my brain on how to build his team bigger. Two years later, we teamed up and I’ve been working alongside him for eleven to twelve years. We’ve since opened up offices in Chicago, Dayton, Pittsburg, Columbus, and South Florida. Since leaving the Daily Herald, my job requirements have required me to incorporate fun, laughter, and positivity into the workplace – and that is similar to what I am attempting to accomplish with these podcasts.
I never went through an interview for any of this. In fact, I learned that if you become valuable, then you don’t ever have to worry about looking for a job. Somebody will always try to seek you out instead. A closer look into this aspect of my life ---here--- on my latest podcast!
