Work Life Balance - Is it a Real Thing?

Down Time? I always hear people saying that when you are done working, you are supposed to turn it all off. You have officially earned your down time. But…for me…that is just not something I do.
When I was a kid, we had sleepovers and had one or two vacations throughout the year. BUT we also had a ton of chores. I definitely think that my upbringing contributed to this state of mind I’m in, but I’m grateful for it. In fact, the only thing that is frustrating is trying to explain that to other people. Someone might ask me, “Oh, what did you do this weekend?” My typical response is, “I worked.” To me, it is not that big of a deal. I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything. If I were to go to the beach to relax, I would honestly just end up thinking about work.
I want more. I am not satisfied with just sitting around. I can’t. I know that I won’t be accomplishing anything or bettering my future by doing so. It’s sad, really, because others make me feel odd for constantly wanting to work or progress my side hustle. “Take some time off,” they say. That just isn’t who I am, though.
Here’s the thing: I do not believe that there is a work life balance. Instead, I believe that it is merely to each their own. You can balance it however you want to balance it. And, if for some reason you’re miserable, then maybe you are working too much or viewing work wrong. OR, perhaps, your work life balance is off and you need to make some adjustments.
My work life balance is to relentlessly be motivated to work or hustle harder. More of my perspective on work life balance ---here--- on my latest podcast!
